A picture of a Class 10 Bihar Board exam 2024 student went viral on social media. While a few students wrote poetry, some wrote emotional notes on their exam sheets. In one particular case, a student wrote a note requesting the examiner to pass her, or else her father would get her married.
The story comes from Arrah’s Model School, where the examiner was checking the Bihar Board Class 10 papers.
In the note, the student says, “My father is a farmer. We are unable to bear the burden of education. This is the reason why they don’t want us to study and have said that if we don’t get good marks, they will not let us continue studying and will get us married. Please save my honour. I am a girl from a poor family.” (a rough translation).
In similar cases, several students have written poems, shaayri, prayers, and emotional notes.
When asked about how these students would pass, a teacher responded that such answers had nothing to do with the questions. Students have written emotional requests, but we cannot pass them. The rule for giving marks is when the answer is correct. By deleting such answers, we are giving zeros.
The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) conducted the Class 10 board exam 2024 from February 15 to February 23. Based on the grading criteria, students must attain at least 30 percent in theoretical papers and 40 percent of the overall marks in practical exams to pass.
