Yami Gautam’s latest release Article 370 based on the incidents inspired by the abrogation of Article 370 which gave special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir in the Indian constitution, has continued its strong hold at the box office even in its second week. Over the weekend, it also managed to cross Rs 50 crore mark and Monday onwards, it has been steadying itself at the box office.
The film, in its first week, had collected about Rs 35.60 crore – it had opened to a decent number of Rs 5.90 on Friday and jumped to Rs 7.4 crore on Saturday and Rs 9.6 crore on Sunday. On Monday, the film crashed to Rs 3.25 crore , a 66% drop, but that day onwards its collection remained steady. On Tuesday it collected Rs 3.3 crore, on Wednesday it collected Rs 3.15 crore and on Thursday, it added another Rs 3 crore into its kitty.
On second Friday, the film’s collection remained steady as it minted Rs 3 crore again, but on Saturday it saw a near 80% jump to collect Rs 5.5 crore, and on Sunday it saw another 10% jump to collect Rs 6.35 crore, thus taking the film over Rs 50 crore mark. And on Tuesday, it collected Rs 1.75 crore, just like Monday, taking the total collection of the film to Rs 54.35 crore.
The film has already become Yami’s fifth highest grossing film beating Badlapur, which had minted Rs 50.07 crore. Article 370 has already beaten the lifetime collection of Yami’s debut film Vicky Donor and it would be interesting to see the journey of the film from here on.
